Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - A 50 kilometers toll roads will be built from the South Kalimantan capital, Banjarmasin, to Martapura, Banjar District capital.

The meeting on highway construction plan was held at the South Kalimantan Public Works (PU) Agency inviting various agencies, including the Banjarmasin PU, said Head of Banjarmasin PU, Ir Gusti Riduan, to reporters here on Thursday.

According to Riduan, highway construction is still a plan and immediately offered to investors to build toll road with a length of 50 kilometers. It will have two lanes and each has four lines. While the location will be in  South Ring Road or Jalan Trikora.

Southern ring road will later be enlarged with landfill until the road becomes very wide, then in the middle of the road made two lane highway with four lines each.

While on the left and right of the highway there will be way for road users in general without a fee collected.

According to him, Banjarmasin City Government was happy with the plan to build the road, because the existence of the highway is not only overcome the congestion that often occurs between the two cities, as well as to open up access for economic traffic .

More important, the highway will strengthen the position of the Port of Trisakti as economic gateway of Kalimantan, he said.

Banjarmasin City Government will fully support the development of toll roads by the Ministry of Public Works of South Kalimantan by building supporting facilities if necessary.

Meanwhile, to tackling congestion between Banjarmasin - Martapura an overpass (flyover) on Jalan A Yani Banjarmasin  is now under construction.
