Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi suggested the Syamsudin Noor International Airport to be enlivened with various local wisdoms as characteristics of the Province of South Kalimantan.
"I ask Tourism Agency could fill it with (local) dances twice in a week, for example, or carnival and others. Many local wisdoms could be presented," Budi Karya remarked in Banjarbaru, Wednesday.
South Kalimantan, according to him, should be able to show to people outside that the Bumi Lambung Mangkurat (nickname of the province) has an extraordinary wealth of culture, including superior products till its specific cuisine.
"Here there is the very good sasirangan fabric. Then soto Banjar and patin (silver catfish). Sell the best delicious soto Banjar here in the airport. Don't let only commercial food from abroad rampant here," he pointed out.

Budi Karya said, the new terminal must be able to accomodate small and medium entrepreneurs (SMEs) in order they have their part to enjoy the prosperity with the present of the large and glotious airport.
"This is in line with the President Jokowi message, the airport must be a trigger for the development of local people economy. Surely it is the opportunity of cool SMEs to market their products at the airport," he affirmed.
"I appreciate Angkasa Pura I who have built this large airport. It is expected that the movement of passengers from and to Banjarmasin will increase and in the end the economy will also increasingly boosted," he said.
Meanwhile, President Director of PT Angkasa Pura I Faik Fahmi promised to provide a widest chance for local products to be marketed at the airport.
"Of course SMEs whose products are good will surely be accomodated as the effort to uphold local wisdom, either sourvenirs or specific food of South Kalimantan, including cultural arts," Faik Fahmi said accompanied by General Manager of Syamsudin Noor International Airport Indah Preastuty.
The inauguration of the new terminal of Syamsudin Noor Banjarmasin International Airport in Banjarbaru was carried out by President Joko Widodo on Wednesday (Dec 18, 2019).
