Head of the Development of the Botanic Garden Area Research Center for Plant Conservation and Botanical Gardens of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) Danang Wahyu Purnomo MSc believes, the South Kalimantan's Banua Botanic Gardens is prospective.

Head of South Kalimantan DPRD's Special Committee (Pansus) IV H Suwardi Sarlan SAg quoted this when the committee consulted with the LIPI's Development of the Botanic Garden Area Research Center for Plant Conservation and Botanical Gardens, Saturday (Dec 14, 2019).

"Head of the research center even opined that South Kalimantan's Banua Botanic Gardens will develop," the PPP politician quoted.

The point of view that the Banua Botanic Gardens is prospective and will develop based on its strategic location, Suwardi Sarlan noted in a press-release.

The South Kalimantan's Banua Botanic Gardens located in the area of South Kalimantan Provincial Goverment offices in Banjarbaru (about 35 kilometers north of Banjarmasin) and general public have easy access.

For this reason, head of the LIPI's Development of the Botanic Garden Area Research Center for Plant Conservation and Botanical Gardens gave a score of 5 or good to the Banua Botanical Garden owned by provincial government.

"Another encouraging thing is LIPI has promised to continue to assist the Banua Botanical Garden as well as assistance to botanical gardens in other provinces in Indonesia," Suwardi said.

The special committee visit to LIPI was in the frame work of discussing draft regulation on managing the Banua Botanical Garden which was proposed by the provincial government.

Previously on separate occision, Head of the Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) of the Banua Botanical Garden Agung Stresno SHut MSi said that his party continue to work closely with the assistance of LIPI staff.
