The Regent of Barito Kuala (Batola), South Kalimantan, Hj Noormiliyani AS won a national award for Human Right Care Regency in 2018 as it was considered to have a partiality to the public in term of service.


The award was given by  the Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna H Laoly to coincide with the 71st World Human Rights Day 2019held in Merdeka Building, Jalan Asia Afrika, Bandung, West Java, Tuesday (Dec 10, 2019). 

“The award is given on the basis of constitutional mandate which says that protection, promotion, enforcement, and fulfilment of human rights is the responsibility of the state, especially government,” Minister Yasonna Laoly remarked.

The benchmark of appropriateness of the award, he explained, especially related to the achievement of the basic rights of innovation and effort to alight with service to the public. 

The award given since 2013, according to the minister, with the aim to motivate and encourage the fulfilment of people rights in the fields of education, health, women and children, and the environment.

"Concerning the effort of the local government is to increase the role and responsility in respecting, protecting, and advancing human rights," he pointed out.

Regent of Batola Hj Noormiliyani AS expressed her gratitute and appreciation to the central government and the Provincial Government of South Kalimantan who continue to push her district to upholding and promoting human rights.

She appreciated related parties, especially Legal Section, for their hard work to realize human rights as a commitment to protect and provide government service to the public.

“This gift should be a motivation and support system that we will improve our service to the community, especially in human rights. Do not let people feel unprotected or their rights are neglected," she said.

There were 272 districts and cities in Indonesia, including Banjarmasin City and Banjar District in South Kalimantan, that received the same award. While there were 22 coaching provinces who received award, including South Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, and Central Kalimantan.
