Head of the South Hulu Sungai (HSS) Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) Agency Hendro Martono stated that the district government will not remain silent in responding the viral news of the murky Amandit River.

"We all concerned about the condition of the river and the government certainly continues to work on resolving this issue amid limited authority," he remarked, yesterday.

The same response, he said, had also been conveyed several times, including on social media.

He pointed out that the issuance of mining permit and the revocation is not the authority of HSS government, it is the authority of central government and South Kalimantan Provincial Government through the provincial Mining Agency, including in terms of supervision.

HSS has sent letters to the South Kalimantan Mining Agency for several times, all abut the turbidity of Amandit River and its causes as well as request to curb unlicensed mining (PETI).
