South Kalimantan has sent as many as 20 para athletes to compete in the 9th National Student Paralympic Week (Paperpenas) in Jakarta on November 7-13, 2019.
They will participate in five sports, namely athletics, swimming, chess, table tennis, and badminton,
Before they departed for Jakarta, Governor H Sahbirin Noor, represented by South Kalimantan Administration Assistant III Drs Heriansyah, seen them off at the Novotel Hotel in Banjarbaru, Tuesday (Nov 5, 2019).
"The provincial government highly appreciate and fully support our Paperpenas athletes who struggle to win achievements and make a good name of this region," he said reading the governor remarks.

He pointed out that the governor really expected para athletes to compete seriously and sportively to show their good play. Condering they were chosen from many athletes their ability should have been tested to play in the national arena.

If the previously South Kalimantan Paperpenas athletes had made many achievements, he said, then the current para athletes should emulate their senior enthusiasm and struggle to never give up.

"We believe South Kalimantan Paperpenas athletes now are able to carry their duty to make a good name of the region," he concluded.
