Secretary of the South Kalimantan Board Executives of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) Nurul Fahmi said almost all star and non-star hotels had been booked by participants of the National Family Day (Harganas) held in Banjarbaru on 30 June to 6 July 2019.
Fahmi in Banjarmasin, Thursday (27/6), said that currently 86 South Kalimantan PHRI members consist of 11 four star hotels, 14 three star hotels, 6 two star hotels and 9 one star hotels.
"While there are quite a lot of non-star members, as many as 37 hotels," he said.
Of the total hotels, the available rooms are 3,556 rooms with a capacity of around 8,890 people.
At present, said Fahmi, who is also the GM of Hotel Roditha Banjarbaru, almost all of the hotels have been booked. In fact, some participants have come to take part in the peak of activities in Banjarbaru City.
Although the capacity of the hotel rooms was prepared quite a lot, but there were still quite a lot of participants who did not get a place to stay.
As is known, the Government of South Kalimantan is hosting the 26th National Family Day, which peak to be held in Banjarbaru City on July 6, 2019.
It is estimated that Harganas participants from all over Indonesia who will come to South Kalimantan reach 15 thousand people.
If the hotel room can only accommodate around 8,890 people, then as many as 6,000 more participants will not get a hotel room.
Anticipating this, Fahmi added, based on the results of a meeting some time ago, the committee prepared several houses that could be rented and were suitable to live in.
"To overcome the shortage of hotel rooms, the committee is looking for some residents' houses that are indeed suitable to accommodate the guests," he said.
The series of Harganas activities included on June 30 sport for family members. Opening of the UPPKS trade exhibition from 30 June to 3 July which is coupled with a coffee festival.
At the same time the Banjarmasin food street festival is held, on July 3 the decorated jukung parade and on July 5 the family cooking competition. July 6 will be the peak of the commemoration of Harganas in Banjarbaru.
