Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan 24/10 (AntaranewsKalsel) - The fire incident of a merchant's vessel in North Hulu Sungai (HSU), South Kalimantan, resulted in three casualties suffered serious burns.
"The victims were immediately taken to the Amuntai Pembelah BatungHospital after being evacuated from the ship," said Head of Public Relations of HSU Police First Insp (Iptu) Alam in Amuntai on Tuesday.
The burning of H Sam`ani's ship happened at Bitin Village, Lake Panggang, HSU, Sunday (22/10) around 06.30 am
The victims who suffered burn were son and daughters of the shipowner. They were Hamdani (14), Aisah (16) and Subhan (20).
According to Lake Panggang Police Chief, Sec Insp (Ipda) Syamsudi, Alam quoted, the ships, which carrying basic needs, oil and LPG, was burnt because there was an explosion and then the fire spread to all parts of the ship.
"Initially one of the victims turned on the water pump machine in the ship, when a family of the ship owner wanted to go to Central Kalimantan to trade," said Alam.
Together with the residents, the fire could finally be extinguished by the team of Tagana, BNPB, and Firefighters (BPK) totaling 12 units.
"The loss is estimated to be about Rp250,000,000, because the ship was completely burned with merchandise inside it," said PR.
Alam also said that the evidence of the remains of shipwrecks is now already given a police line by the officer of Panggang Lake Police while waiting for the process of crime scene examination from the North Hulu Sungai Police.
