Martapura, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Regent Banjar Khalilurrahman discusses rejuvenation by replanting of rubber trees and other types of plants, such as oil palm, coffee, and cocoa, to increase productivity.
Regent conveyed the discourse during a working visit at the Indonesian Ministry of Economy in Jakarta on Tuesday accompanied by Secretary Nasrun Syah and Head of the Livestock and Plantation Agency Dondit Bekti Agustiono.
"Rejuvenation of the plants in order productivity increases, thus helping the economy of farmers and the community," said the regent in front of Assistant Deputy for Plantations and Horticulture Wilistra Danny.
He explained, rejuvenation as well as the development of rubber plants, oil palm and coffee and cocoa would be community-based, so the community would be active and be able to enjoy the results they did together.
"All are community-based rejuvenation activities and we will empower them, so that product prices can be increased and the results will be enjoyed by the community," he said.
Efforts is in accordance with those recommended by the government, namely rubber plants over the age of 20 years that are spread in a number of sub-districts are to be replanted.
"Our hope, production of rubber will increase further in addition to supporting the Raw Rubber Processing and Marketing Unit (UPPB), which will eventually produce rubber smoke sheets (RSS)," he said.
