Amuntai, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - The North Hulu Sungai (HSU), South Kalimantan, crime detective police (Satreskrim) secured a merchant who was found selling body parts of protected animals.
HSU Police Chief Adj Sr Comr (AKBP) Ahmad Arif Sofiyan through Satreskrim KBO Sec. Insp (Ipda) Riyanda Putradi on Saturday said RH (19) alias Ri was arrested because he was found selling limbs of protected animals.
"The perpetrator has been trading in protected animals body parts for two years, even online through his accounts," Riyanda said.
Ri was captured with evidence of pieces of protected animals body, namely one bone of a marine biota goat's head, one Borneo Uwa-Uwa skull, one skinned estuarine crocodile child, four small bear fangs, one beak from a hornbill.
A small piece of anteater scales, a skull of a kuwuk cat, seven skulls of deer, nine nails of a bear, three skulls of bear, six deer horns, one deer skin, and one skin of a kuwuk cat.
He was arrested while carrying his merchandise using a Toyota Kijang KF 40 standard short metallic quart on Jalan Patmaraga Murung Sari Amuntai, Saturday (2/2) at 16.00.
"Some of the pieces of evidence of this animal were also found by our officers at the house of the suspect's wife," explained Arif.
After being questioned by the police, the perpetrator claimed to have gotten a body member of protected animals from residents living in the mountainous area and collected it.
"The benefits gained range from IDR 50,000 to IDR 200,000 per part of the animal body," Riyanda said.
Rizki's trading activities violated article 40 Paragraph (2) Jo Article 21 Paragraph (2) Letter b and d of RI Law No. 05/1990 concerning Conservation of Biological Resources and their Ecosystems.
