Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Kotabaru DPRD Speaker Suwanti learned about ornamental flower business, especially jasmine, when conducted a field trip to Banjar District Agriculture Office and Cooperative and SMEs Office.
"We explore the potential for ornamental flower plants, specifically jasmine, to be developed in Kotabaru," she said when confirmed in Kotabaru, Monday.
During the field trip, she visited Karang Intan and Martapura Sub-district, known for the center of horticulture plant and ornamental flowers.

Suwanti said Banjar Agriculture Office has some strategic programs in improving food security and developing agriculture sector, while the Cooperative and SMEs Office focuses on fostering and stengthening small and medium enterprisses in the local area.
"Some of their leading programs include training and human resource development to increase the capacity of farmers and cooperatives, as well as development of horticulture plants, including ornamental flowers, to increase farmers' income," she said.
The two offices also encourage partnership with various parties or stakeholders to expand the market and increasing economic value of the ornamental flower business.
"Here, we want to learn how to manage ornamental flower plants, so it can be implemented in Kotabaru and provide a positive impact on the economy of farmers family," said Suwanti.
She said the potential for ornamental flower development in Kotabaru is enormous, considering the area is also a tourist destination in South Kalimantan.
