Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The South Kalimantan Police Food Task Force uncovered counterfeiting of rice packaging allegedly done by CV Bumi Nusantara Food in Tanah Laut District.
"The perpetrator mode of buying packaged rice from Java then replaced them with their own brand without permission," said Special Crime Investigation Director (Direskrimsus) of South Kalimantan Police Sr Comr (Kombes) Rizal Irawan in Banjarmasin on Wednesday.
According to Rizal, the illegal practice of rice packaging was dismantled by the task force on Thursday, June 8, 2017.
Members of Trade Industry and Investment Sub-Directorate (Indagsi) Ditreskrimsus took action against business actors who have deliberately opened the final packaging of Beras Bengawan Super Cap Kuda Balap produced by Bintang Mulia Wirolegi Jember.
Rice production from East Java was then repackaged into rice Kelapa Pandan Wangi Super Cap Kolam Lele which was produced by Bumi Nusantara Food and traded by CV Bumi Nusantara Food.
"Director of CV Bumi Nusantara Food Sujatno Liman was named as a suspect and objected to Article 139 jo Article 84 of Law No.18/2012 on Food," he said.
He said, the change of packaging brand intentionally done in the hope that the selling price could be higher at Rp2,000 per kilogram.
Evidence seized by officers in the warehouse they raided among them 100 sacks of 25 kg of rice Bengawan Super Cap Kuda Balap produced by Bintang Mulia Wirolegi, Jember.
Furthermore, 200 packs of rice of Bengawan Super Cap Kuda Balap produced by Bintang Mulia Wirolegi, Jember.
Then 15 sacks of 5 kg of rice Kelapa Pandan Wangi Super Cap Kolam Lele produced by Bumi Nusantara Food, and 3,000 packs of rice Kelapa Pandan Wangi Super Cap Kolam Lele produced by Bumi Nusantara Food.
CV Bumi Nusantara Food is located at Jalan Perintis Raya RT.5 RW.002 Nusa Indah Village, Bati-Bati Sub District, Tanah Laut, South Kalimantan.
