Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Victims of land crimes, especially those caused by land mafia, are still scattered throughout Indonesia, said Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY).
He was speaking at a press conference on the disclosure of land crimes in Jambi held at Siginjai Sakti Wira Bhakti Building, Jambi Regional Police, as informed by South Kalimantan BPN in a press release, Thursday.
He said during his four months journey as Minister of ATR/BPN Head, it was enough for him to undestand how complex the problems involving land mafia. The victims were regardless of economic, social, and policitical background.
"Everyone can be a victim, vulnarable peole certainly suffer the most, they have nothing to defend themselves and to fight for justice and their rights to the land that should belong to them," said the minister.
On that account, Minister AHY urges people to take concrete steps to avoid land mafia. First, people do not have land certificate to immediately register and have their land to be certified.
"Making certificate is easy, fast, through PTSL (Complete Systematic Land Registration) without any extra charges. Come to the local BPN office, insya Allah we will serve you well. It has proven that the original certificate owned by the victims are somehow able to save their assets," said AHY.

He also appealed to those who already have land certificates.
"If you already have certificate do not carelessly entrust and lend it to anyone who doestn't have the right. Often the perpetrator is around the victim. Secure the certificate you already have, this will prevent falsification and unauthorized duplication of documents," continued Minister AHY.
People are also asksed to maintain and do not neglect their land by making permanent land boundary marks.
If you already tried to protect your land, but still become victims of land mafia, Minister AHY invites people not to hesitate to report to Anti-Land Mafia Task Force (Satgas Anti-Mafia Tanah).
The press conference also attended by officials of ATR Ministry/BPN, including Chief of Anti-Land Mafia Task Force, Jambi Governor and the Jambi Law Enforcement officers, as well as Head of Jambi BPN and his staff.
