Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Olympic Committee of Indonesia (NOC Indonesia) on Friday awarded sports associations whose athletes have achieved success at the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia.
"I express my gratitude to all of you for the support and hard work that has led to extraordinary achievements in sports," said Raja Sapta Oktohari, Chairman of NOC Indonesia, during the opening of the committee's congress in Jakarta.
"There are sports figures who have dedicated their time and effort to these achievements," he added.
The recipients of the NOC Indonesia Awards are divided into three categories.
The first category is for sports associations that have produced overall champions, namely: PP PBSI (badminton), PB PABSI (weightlifting), PB ISSI (cycling), PP PELTI (tennis), PB ESI (esports), PP PBVSI (indoor volleyball), PB IPSI (martial arts), and PB WI (wushu).
The next category is for history makers, namely the men's 4x100 m relay team, the women's basketball team, the men's indoor hockey team; the women's 6s cricket team; and the football team.
The last category is for sport branches that have set new records, namely PB PABSI (weightlifting), PB POSSI (fin swimming), and PB PRSI (swimming).
The NOC Indonesia 2023 Congress will elect a new chairman, deputy chairman, executive committee members, and ethics council members for the 2023-2027 period.
The candidates for chairman and deputy chairman for the 2023-2027 period are Raja Sapta Oktohari-Ismail Ning and Oegroseno-Djoko Pekik.
There are 24 candidates for executive committee and seven for the ethics council.
