Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Natural Disaster Manager of the Indonesian Forum for the Environment (Walhi) Mukri Friatna appreciated the oil palm plantation companies concerned with the prevention of forest and land fires.
"We very appreciated the Amara Group through one of its subsidiaries PT Plantindo Agro Subur (PAS) gave training to Society Concerned about Fires ( MPA) and simulation of land and plantation fire prevention," said Mukri Friatna here, Thursday (26/5).
According to him, fire prevention training and simulation in PT PAS, Teluk Haur, Tapin District, in mid May 2016, for a week followed by 35 representatives of MPA from seven villages around the plantation.
According to him, these activities should be appreciated, so that all companies do the same, and made such efforts as a liability.
He explained that preventive measures had to be done, considering that for 18 years every land and forest fires have always tended to blame each other.
However, he said, the company should take into account the human resources and water resources, in order to optimize prevention efforts.
For that, called him, that prevention efforts should also be made by other companies, and its implementation must be seriously and earnestly.
Separately, the environmental law expert of Lambung Mangkurat University Dermawati Sihite responded positively the disaster and land fire response training by the oil palm company.
Such efforts are very effective, he said, because it could become a big movement that the disaster management not only expect at a company or government alone.
In preventing fires, he said, could not speak in terms of positive law merely, including criminal threat given. Equally important is precisely the sociological approach to the people so they can understand the loss in case of fire.
South Kalimantan Area Director of Amara Group Didik Martanto asserted, the event was the company's commitment in the effort to take action to prevent land and plantation fires.
