Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Banjarmasin City Government held a storytelling competition for students of elementary school (SD), junior high school (SMP) and senior high school (SMA) in an effort to increase reading habit.
Head of the Municipal Government Public Relations Kurnadiansyah said storytelling contest was intended to stimulate the students to love reading and the culture of the nation.
The competition was presented and popularized the story books of local culture whose content contains the values ​​of heroism and the mission of building the nation's character.
"The competition was held on Thursday (8/4) and will end on Monday (11/4)," said Kurnadiansyah, Friday.
Hopefully, he said, this race becomes a medium to instill the love of the nation, build character, intelligence, innovation and competitive power. In addition to foster children's love of the work culture of the archipelago.
A contest of storytelling followed by 115 participants comprising SD/equivalent (41 participants), junior/equal (47 participants) and high school/equivalent (27participants).
Mayor Ibnu Sina in his speech read by Assistant on Government Drs Kursani Hamli said that the culture of storytelling done by the parents began to diminish, since replaced by technology.
Ibnu said the storytelling culture is vital to children's development and hoped storytelling competition can be displayed on any commemoration.
