Pelaihari, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Head of the Tanah Laut Environment Agency (BLH) Riyadi said coal mining company PT Jorong Barutama Greston extends the contract work in the district until 2018.
"The contract extension of PT Jorong Barutama Greston (JBG) was signed by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources," said Riyadi in Pelaihari, Sunday.
According to him, PT JBG work contract is actually expired in early 2015, but the management submit permit of extension on the grounds content of coal is still potential.
PT JBG contract extension work has been informed to the Regent of Tanah Laut by company's management some time ago, as the permission from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources issued.
He explained that based on the exposure of the management of PT JBG, in a three-year contract extension it targeted coal production of 4.5 million metric tons.
PT JBG mining activities are expected to bring a positive impact on local employment and contributing to the Tanah Laut District of royalties.
In addition, he said, the work contract extention give positiveimpact to the surrounding community, mainly through the CSR program and others.
He hoped PT JBG remains committed to improving the environment, particularly to the former mining excavation in its territory.
"We keep asking for commitment of PT JBG to mine lands reclamation, whether as a result of illegal miners or by PT JBG themselves," he said.
