Jakarta (ANTARA) - All State-Owned Enterprise (SOE) industrial estates are utilizing Indonesia’s G20 Presidency as an opportunity to increase investment, president director of state-run PT Kawasan Industri Wijayakusuma (KIW), Ahmad Fauzie, has said.
“We are utilizing the momentum of this presidency to draw more investors, both domestic and from abroad, deemed to be super contributors to economic growth (which has been) disrupted by COVID-19," he informed.
During the 2022 Indonesia G20 National Seminar held online on Saturday, he said that the Indonesian government is currently focusing on two matters: health and economic recovery post the pandemic.
SOE industrial estates are, therefore, assisting in the economic sector to help the government, he informed.
Hence, the G20 Presidency has become the correct moment to bolster communication and promotion with a variety of goals, including drawing domestic and overseas investors.
The goals also include supporting various programs initiated by the government for post-pandemic economic revival and digitalization, empowering micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), as well as economic potentials as supply network for industrial estates.

According to Fauzie, post-pandemic investment in SOE industrial estates has tended to be directed toward the formation of new industrial estates to attract investment, the utilization of Job Creation Law, foreign investors' interest in investing in the nation, the opening of new factories, and reabsorption of the workforce after COVID-19.
Indonesia currently has 120 industrial estates. Several of them are state-owned: PT Kawasan Industri Medan, PT Jakarta Industrial Estate Pulogadung, PT KIW, PT Kawasan Industri Makassar, PT PDI Pulau Batam, PT Kawasan Berikat Nusantara, and PT Surabaya Industrial Estate Rungkut.
"The potential is quite large and open amid the G20 Presidency because each region has differing characteristics," Fauzie explained.
He said he expects a special activity to be held to promote SOE industrial estates in Indonesia during the G20 Summit in Indonesia at the end of the year.
With this, the G20 Summit in Indonesia will not just be a mere celebration, but also draw domestic investment.
