Tanjung, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Regent Anang Syakhfiani announced Tabalong is making various sets up to be the new state capital's buffer zone, one of which is preparing over 3,000 hectares of land as an industrial area.
Geographically, he said, the district has the most strategic position as it is directly connected to North Penajam Paser District, the country's new capital.
Tabalong is also connected to four series of national roads in three provinces, namely South, Central, and East Kalimantan.
This position, said the Regent, makes Tabalong one of the strategic areas, both in terms of geoposition and geoeconomics.
"We will take advantage of this strategic condition as well as possible to make Tabalong the main support of the state capital," he said.
One of the preparation is to ready over 3,000 hectares of land for the construction of an industrial area that supports the country's new capital.
The land is located in two sub-districts, namely Haruai, covering an area of 483 hectares in Bangkang Village and 914 hectares in Seradang Village. Then in Upau Sub-district 120.84 hectares in Kinarum Village, 95.45 hectares in Panelak Village, and 1,7748.45 hectares in Kaong Village.
"We will prioritize the development of local resource-based agribusinesses, industry, and mining business that comply with the natural resources conservation, the carrying capacity, and capacity of the environment," he said to the South Kalimantan Provincial Government pressroom reporters who visited the district.
The Regent admitted that he felt lucky that he still has enough time to prepare various potentials to become the buffer zone.
The condition, he said, is certainly different when Jakarta was designated as the state capital, the surrounding areas did not have proper preparation as a buffer, because once it was proclaimed, Jakarta automatically became the country's capital.
"Now we have preparations to welcome the new capital, and hopefully the future will be better," he said.
