Rantau, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - South Kalimantan escaped the preliminary round to enter the big eight after defeating Aceh and South Sumatra in the men's double in the XX PON in Papua.
Two victories in men's double event on the second day, Tuesday (Oct 5, 2021) at the Trikora Uncen Sports Hall, Jayapura City, paid for South Kalimantan's previous defeat to Riau Island.
It defeated Aceh with a score of 21:10 and 21:15 in the first match.
Then in the second match against South Sumatra, the two collided with smash, techniques, and tactics for up to three rounds. South Kalimantan eventually won with a score of 21:18, 15:21, and 21:15.
Now it is waiting for the winners of the preliminary round to go for the next round.

"Alhamdulillah, we are in the big eight. We are still waiting for the opponents who qualify in pool B, the match is still going on. Maybe later against Gorontalo or East Kalimantan," said South Kalimantan takraw coach Naharrudin from Papua to AntaranewsKalsel.
Meanwhile, South Kalimantan takraw athlete Haerul Fahmi from Kotabaru who paired with Erlangga Amri from Banjar District, said he is now in healthy and excellent physical condition.
"Alhamdulillah we won, now we are resting and preparing for the next match," said the two through WhatsApp video call.
South Kalimantan hopes to enter the final to win a medal for the region.
Previously, in the first round in men's double for pool A were Papua, West Java, Central Java, and Banten, while in pool B were West Sulawesi, North Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, and Gorontalo.
