Amuntai, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The South Kalimantan Social Agency in collaboration with the North Hulu Sungai (HSU) Social Office continues to empower people with disabilities and elderly to remain productive and prosperous.
As many as 30 people with severe disabilities in HSU received basic necessities, even two of them received sewing machines.
"The two people who have completed training in sewing skill at the Iskaya Banaran Rehabilitation Center for People with Disabilities received productive economic assistance in the form of the sewing machine," said Head of HSU Social Agency H Rizali Eswansyah accompanied by Head of Rehabilitation Hj Rahmiati in Amuntai, Tuesday (22/9).
Rizali said that every person with severa disabilities received basic food assistance from the provincial Social Office, which included rice, cooking oil, sugar, tea bags, gabin biscuit, and sardines.
Assistance to fulfil basic need was also given to neglected elderly people through LKS (Social Welfare Agency) for the elderly, namely LKS Al Muslimun for as many as 30 people and LKS Salam also 30 people.

Head of Section for Rehabilitation of Person with Disabilities and Elderly of the South Kalimantan Social Office Yudhiana Khusnan Kurniawan and Head of HSU Social Office handed over the assistance.
"In the midst of the COVID 19 pandemic, the government keeps paying attention and provide assistance to people who are disabled due to their physical, mental, and age conditions so they remain prosperous as other residents," said Yudhiana.
Besides HSU, similar assistance was also distributed to people with severe disabilities in Banjar, Tapin, Tanah Laut, and HSS districts.
