Tanjung, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Flood disaster in Haruai Sub-district, Tabalong, South Kalimantan, got the attention of the management of PT Astra Agro Lestari, who operates in the district.
The company has aided flood victims in three villages, Hayub, Nawin and Halong, by providing food material for them. The food was handed over by its security head Kristanto Siahaan to chief of villages and chief of neighboring units at the flood-affected areas.
In Halong Village, for example, about 250 people are victims of the flood. Then in two neighboring units in Hayub Village, where a bridge was damaged by the disaster.
In Nawin Village, the overflow of Tabalong River hit RT (neighborhood units) of 1, 2 and 3, and caused 120 houses to be swamped.
"We together with Haruai Police Chief and Commander of Rayon Military come to the location and at the same time provided assistance," Kristanto said.
Currently, floods not only hit the north part of Tabalong but extend to the central and south as downpour is still high in the 'Bumi Saraba Kawa' (nickname of the district).
Meanwhile, Tabalong Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) assisted by UPBS, volunteers, nature lovers groups, PMI (Red Cross), and district police and military Kodim 1008/Tanjung deployed personnel to help victims of flooding.
