Rantau, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Thousands of people gathered to take part in istisqa prayer (prayer to ask for rain) held by the District Government of Tapin at the Dwi Dharma Field Rantau at 7.30 am, Wednesday (17/9).
Participants from government, TNI (military), National Police (Polri), students, and community came together for the worship led by KH M Hasnan.
Regent Tapin HM Arifin Arpan said the istisqa prayer held because of the long lasting of drought. "In facing drought and land and forest fire disaster, we are aware that we can rely on our own human power, but we ask the help of Allah the Almighty," he remarked.

Arifin asked all residents to participate in reducing the impact of haze by not burning land which certainly will harm many people.
The regent appealed to residents to pray a lot, ask forgiveness to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala, and stop doing sinful things which can cause disaster.

"Hopefully istisqa prayer that we perform is directly accepted by Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala and the rain fall to reduce land and forest fire as well as haze," he pointed out.
