South Kalimantan's Human Development Index (HDI) in 2018 rises to a high level with a score of 70.17 or grows by 0.75 percent compared to 2017.


Head of South Kalimantan Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Diah Utami in Banjarbaru said on Monday the HDI achievement above 70 showed a high level for the success of the opportunity to live now longer.

"The HDI value above 70 shows that newborn babies in 2018 have a longer chance to live 68.23 years so that the status of HDI enters a high level," she said.

Opportunities for babies to live up to 68.23 years increased by 0.21 years compared to 2017 and children aged 7 years could go to school 12.5 years increased by 0.04 years compared to the previous year.

"During the 2010-2018 period, South Kalimantan's HDI grew by 0.95 percent and the first time in 2018 South Kalimantan's HDI status was high because it reached above 70," she said.

"Another component is that the per capita expenditure in constant prices in 2012 reached Rp12,062 million, an increase of Rp4,62 thousand in 2018 compared to the previous year," he said.
