The Tanah Bumbu Islamic Student Association (HMI) invites the public, especially in the district, to take part in maintaining the environment and the preservation of nature thus it remains beautiful and cool.
Chairman of the HMI Tanah Bumbu Teguh Gunawan here said the number of disasters around us, such as floods, fires, tornadoes, and so on due to human activities themselves who do not want to protect the surrounding environment.
"So there is no need to be surprised when rainy season in our place often floods or landslides because our forests have started to be deforested due to the illegal logging," he said.
He said, besides the many illegal logging of forests, there were coal companies after mining activities did not reforest deforested forests.
Many things have been done by HMI to get people and coal companies to pay attention to the environment, one of which is through public dialogue to discuss and find solutions to each problem.
"Come on let us all, both the community and coal companies protect the natural environment by preserving and reviving our forests. Don't let our forests be deforested because we cannot preserve them," he said.
According to him, Kalimantan Island was the biggest oxygen contributor in the world, even Indonesia is the lungs of the world because of the richness of the forest, but now the forests in Kalimantan are starting to be bare.
