The South Kalimantan Regional Police Narcotics Detective Directorate has foiled the trafficking of 3,841.53 grams of crystal methamphetamine (sabu-sabu) and 2,581 ecstasy pills during January and February 2019.


"By the foiling, 79,411 people were saved from drug abuse," said Director of Narcotics Investigation Sr Comr (Kombes) Wisnu Widarto, Tuesday (5/3).

The calculation is of one gram of sabu-sabu can be used by 20 people and every one ecstasy pill is used by one abuser.

All the evidence was then destroyed in the presence of officials from the Prosecutor's Office, the Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP), The Food and Drug Monitoring Agency and the South Kalimantan Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.

The extermination took place in the main building of the South Kalimantan Police Headquarters led by the Head of Public Relations Sr Comr Mochamad Rifa'i who represented the South Kalimantan Regional Police Chief Insp. Gen Yazid Fanani.

All suspects were presented to witness the illicit goods they were circulating were completely destroyed. But it previously tested for authenticity using a special tool to detect narcotics content.

"We continue to develop cases of dealers who have been caught to map their networks," Wisnu said.

During the first two months of 2019, the South Kalimantan Regional Police revealed 23 cases and arrested 36 suspects, one of whom was a woman.

The case stands out with the suspect FW and Ru with evidence of sabu-sabu 1,827.93 grams. Then RR had 499 grams of sabu-sabu and 1,387 ecstasy pills.
