Pelahari, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Tanah Laut Regent H. Sukamta won the Golden Award at the 2019 National Press Day (HPN) at the Graha Building Surabaya, Friday night (8/2).
The Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) Branch of South Kalimantan Chairman Zainal Helmie explained the selection of H Sukamta was through a fairly rigorous selection, because each PWI branch in Indonesia also proposed candidates for the Sports Journalists Section (SIWO) award.
"The Regent of Tanah Laut H Sukamta deserves the award because he does not only cares about sports but also actively becomes a sportsman," he explained.
He said of the 540 regents and mayors proposed to win the SIWO award only 22 people were chosen as the recipients.
"The Regent of Tanah Laut is considered not only concerned with sports, but is active as a sportsman, such as football, volleyball and bicycles. In fact, he was once a volleyball athlete when the National Journalists Sports Week (Porwanas) was held," he said.
The award was received by Regent H Sukamta from the Chairperson of the PWI Center Atal S Depari witnessed by Minister of Communication and Informatics Rudiantara and several other ministers, Attorney General HM Prasetyo, former TNI Commander Gatot Nurmantyo, Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, East Java Governor Soekarwo and thousands of media crews.
