The community no longer seeks information, on the contrary, the community is treated to a variety of information. It is only people who choose and sort information like what they want. Even in the era of digitalization, people can witness activities or events that are taking place live rather than left behind.
In order for the community not to be eroded by the current era, the Tabalong District Government, whose area covers ??3,496 km² covering 12 sub-districts and 131 villages and urban villages with a population of 218,954 people (2010 census) and geographical conditions of mountains, and parts of forests and swamps, felt it was important to build local television stations
The District Government is optimistic it can manage information sources to accelerate the distribution of development and improve the welfare of the community, one of which is through local television called "TV Tabalong".
The government's determination is to make the public smart by presenting all the successes and regional strategic programs that can be witnessed and enjoyed by all components of society, from urban to those who live in remote rural areas.
Tabalong is rich, with coal and petroleum mines, with superior plantation commodities such as rubber, cocoa, and oil palm, and with fruits, such as langsat, rambutan, cempedak, and durian.
The local government hopes to be able to manage its abundant natural resources and at the same time open up all the information space to educate its people as a form of Law No. 14/2008 concerning Public Information Openness by optimizing its Local Public Broadcasting Institutions.
"There are two excellent programs on Tabalong TV to open access to information to the public," explained Head of Information and Public Communication Management of the Tabalong Communication and Information and Statistics Agency (Diskominfo & Statistik) Gusti Judid Ihsan Permana.
The two excellent programs, namely "Tabalong Hari Ini," are hard news programs that accommodate the hottest and most up-to-date daily news collection on Bumi Saraba Kawa (nickname of Tabalong). Then "Tabalong Dialog", as a soft news program with the type of talk show with a duration of 60 minutes.
According to the Head of Tabalong TV Station Husnan Budiman, Tabalong Dialog explores in depth all the problems in the community. "Through this program, we discuss solutions in overcoming various problems in the region," he explained.
This program presents speakers from different perspectives. Not only from the government element but involving observers and the community. So that there is an expected answer or clarity to a problem.
To support the open access to information, Tabalong TV utilizes satellites that can reach all regions. Specifically, in Tabalong, based on internal TV surveys, at least 20 thousand houses can access Tabalong TV with an accumulation multiplied by 3 people per house, so there are 60 thousand people who can access TV stations belonging to the local government.
In addition, the dissemination of content through the tvtabalong.com website is visited by at least 300 visitors every day. Through a YouTube account with 13 thousand subscribers and facebook fan pages, there are 4,500 followers, including Instagram with 7,300 followers.
Meanwhile, the Antara National News Agency, as the only state news agency, will give awards to the regional government who have a strong commitment to improving community welfare.
The Chairman of the Assessment Team Syamsuddin said several indicators of regional program feasible to receive the Antara Award are consistency in the implementation of the program, it changing the mindset of the community to be better and to encourage the welfare of the community.
In addition, it has broad support from all parties involved and has been successfully implemented in accordance with the program set
