Kotabaru, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - The Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, Civil Registry and Demography Agency destroyed hundreds of broken or invalid electronic ID cards (KTP-els).

Head of the agency Akhmad Fitriadi said on Saturday that the destruction was carried out following the Circular of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 470.13/11176/SJ concerning Administration of damaged or invalid KTP-e.

"All regions are tasked with recording and destroying damaged or invalid KTP-el in the service process in their respective working areas," he said.

In the circular, there were also special instructions for checking the damaged or invalid KTP-el results of mass printing from 2011-2013.

If KTP-el is damaged or invalid, it must be recorded and destroyed immediately by burning.

"But for KTP-el damaged or invalid which printed in the 2013 or above, the instruction was only cut. Why is the treatment not the same? Yes, that's the instruction and we just implement it," said Fitriadi.

To this day, the agency has found about 6,500 pieces of damaged or invalid  KTP-el, but destroyed only 500 pieces.

The rest will follow after data verification because damaged or invalid ID was always sent to the center. He also did not know exactly how to treat the damaged or invalid KTP-el later.

"By this new instructions then it's the regional government to carry out the destruction," he said.
