Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Students who are members of the water care community have agreed to save water resources in Kalimantan, especially in South Kalimantan.


The agreement was issued after 240 students took part in the training program of the student community caring for water resources for students of state and private universities in Banjarmasin on Tuesday.

The students appealed the government and the community to save water resources, especially fresh water in the form of rivers and lakes, by preserving the environment and preventing damage to nature.

So far there has been damage of around 640 thousand hectares of land in the South Kalimantan, which will certainly affect water availability.

To preserve sustainability, the students agreed to carry out rehabilitation as best they could by replanting as much as possible the greening trees in the water catchment area of the Sultan Adam Public Forest Park in the mass planting action on Wednesday 28 November 2018.

The source person of the event, Mohammad Ary, said he was concerned about the condition of the river, which is a water resource, had been damaged by contamination of metals, garbage, and waste, which had affected water quality.

Mohammad Ary, who is known as the Deputy Chairperson of the River Concerned Society (Melingai), invited all walk of life to play an active role in maintaining rivers, lakes and other water resources.
