Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Concerned about the security conditions of the traditional Kelotok river transportation, Banjarmasin Transportation Agency Head Ichwan Nor Khaliq said the agency will make a prototype of tourism kelotok that prioritized security.
"Sooner we will introduce what it looks like," he said here on Monday, without elaborating. However, he revealed, actually, the prototype is a common form of kelotok to be modified to meet safety standards for passengers.
"Kelotok (a traditional boat fitted with motor) currently available is that passengers are often on the roof, even though it is not secure," he explained.
Although Ichwan stressed, the agency often reprimanded the owners of kelotok and their passengers so they would not be on the roof, but was often violated.
"We have even made an announcement on the pier, we do not want to be blamed if anything happens," he said.
Another step, said Ichwan, is that patrol boats continue to make announcements so that passengers prioritize security while in the river transportation facilities.
"Indeed, we are quite overwhelmed, because hundreds to thousands of tourists do river tours every day," Ichwan told.
