Banjarbaru, S Kalimantan (Antranews Kalsel) - Still in the series of commemoration of the 38th World Food Day, the South Kalimantan Government held an egg-eating and milk-drink competition for school children, Saturday (10/20).

The competition took place lively, as 300 students, 150 from elementary and 150 from junior high school, enthusiastically following the competitions held at the South Kalimantan Provincial Government office courtyard in Banjarbaru City.

South Kalimantan Family Welfare Movement Chairwoman Hj Raudatul Jannah said the competition is an activity not only to introduce the importance of consuming eggs and milk.

"For school children, it is in order they are wise to consume the main snacks they get, both at home and at school," explained the wife of the governor.

While the Head of the South Kalimantan Plantation and Animal Husbandry Agency drh. Suparmi urged children not to stop eating eggs and milk when they grow up.

"Regular consumption of milk and eggs can improve memory and intelligence," she explained.

According to Suparmi, this competition is actually often held only within the scope of the agency. But this time it is opened for students to coincide with World Food Day.

In Indonesia, the percentage of consumption of animal protein, namely meat, eggs and milk, is only 8 percent per year. While in Thailand and the Philippines, 20 and 21 percent respectively. Even Malaysia has reached 28 percent every year.
