Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - South Kalimantan Governor H Sahbirin Noor opened the 2nd Borneo Culture Festival held in Banjarmasin from 11-12 August 2018.
The governor rang a typical Dayak tribal musical instrument "kurung-kurung" together with representatives of the ambassadors and the Dayak customary council throughout Kalimantan when opening the festival on Saturday.
The governor said South Kalimantan was very honored to be the first host in the region after the first festival was held in Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, Jakarta in 2017.
According to him, the festival is a brilliant idea to introduce Borneo culture to national and even foreign countries.
"The charm of Borneo culture has extraordinary wisdom, not only shows the charm of its art, dance and traditional clothing, but on the other hand there is education about life," Sahbirin Noor remarked.
According to him, the culture of the Dayak people who are indigenous tribes in the land of Borneo have a spirit of maintaining and loving the preservation of nature. Dayak culture must be attentive and protected.
"This is the wealth of our nation, we always keep the unity under the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, we must keep together," said Uncle Birin, the nickname of the South Kalimantan Governor.
In the 2nd Borneo Culture Festival there were about eight representatives of the friend Countries ambassador, including from Yemen, Iran, Croatia, Belarus, Peru, Panama and Venuzeula.
In addition, all Dayak Customary Councils throughout Kalimantan were also present from East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, West Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan.
