Tanjung, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The Government of Tabalong, South Kalimantan, has formed a Disaster Prepared Village in Bintang Ara Village, Bintang Ara Sub-District, as an effort to raise awareness and increase community's ability to handle disaster.
Head of Social Agency Yuhani in Tanjung on Wednesday said the Disaster Preparedness Village aims to reduce the risk of disasters occurring in this region since Tabalong consisting of 12 sub-districts has great potential for flood disaster.
"People can be better prepared in dealing with the disaster with the formation of Village Disaster Preparedness," explained Yuhani.
Disaster Preparedness Village in Bintang Ara itself is the third one after previously in Banua Lawas and Haruai Subdistricts.
The inauguration of Village Disaster Preparedness at Bintang Ara was attended by Head of South Kalimantan Social Agency Adi Santoso who hoped
for the guarantee of service for disaster victims. "The community of disaster preparedness village remains effective in the field when disaster strikes," said Adi.
A series of activities were also carried out to support the Disaster Preparedness Village program, among others, education and disaster training and simulation.
On the same occasion also handed over a platoon tent, three family tents, 20 rolls tents, 50 mattresses, 50 blankets.
