Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - The South Kalimantan Police's Directorate of Drugs Investigation disclosed a large catch of 20 kilograms sabu-sabu. This success seemed to be a sweet present from Police Chief Insp. Gen. Rachmat Mulyana who just got a promotion of two-star general.


"Thank God this became my first offering to the people of South Kalimantan after being promoted as Inspector General of Police," said Rachmat, Monday.

He was speaking at the exposure of the directorate success setting the record of the largest catch of narcotics. It broke the previous record of 18 kg catch.

"By thwarting this narcotics circulation and also the previous catch, meaning we saved as many as two million lives from drug abuse," Rachmat pointed out.

The police chief hopes heavy punishment to be given to the dealers. The death penalty becomes the toughest legal sanction can be imposed through the public prosecutor and the judges who convicted the defendants in the court.

"South Kalimantan is becoming a prone target for dealers, as evidenced by the large catch, now we only wait for the death penalty to have a deterrent effect in accordance with Article 114 paragraph 2 of Law No 35/2009 on narcotics, that if the evidence exceeds 5 kg the perpetrators to be sentenced to death," he said accompanied by the Southern Customs Head Hari Budi Wicaksono, Assistant General Crime of Prosecutors Office Achmad Miftahul Arifin as well as court officials, BNNP South Kalimantan and Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM).

On the success of its members, Rachmat also claimed would propose to National Police Chief Gen. Tito Karnavian that his men can get a direct award.

The captured carrier of 20 kg sabu-sabu were MF (26) and NF (29). Both were ambushed when out of Trisakti Port Banjarmasin on Sunday (15/7) at around 01:00 after traveling by sea from Tanjung Perak, Surabaya.

Director of Drug Detective Sr Comr Muhammad Firman said the two suspects are Herry Cs network revealed on January 23, 2018 with 11,784 ecstasy pills from Tanjung Pinang, Riau Islands.
