Banjarbaru, S Kalimantan June 4 (AntaranewsKalsel) - South Kalimantan Governor Sahbirin Noor stated his administration is consistently developing a non-smoking area as an effort to protect public health, especially in public locations.


The local regulation on non-smoking area (KTAR), he said, is a form of government consistency to protect people against the danger of tobacco smoke.

"I ask all related agencies to better socialize efforts to prevent the danger of smoking, through planned and measurable programs," he said in Banjarbaru, Monday.

Thanks to the commitment of the government to develop the non-cigarette area and the enactment of local regulation, South Kalimantan Provincial Government awarded Pastika Parahita from the Minister of Health Nila Djuwita F Moeloek.

The appreciation of Pastika Parahita was the result of South Kalimantan Government's commitment in implementing presidential instruction related to non-smoking area policy by issuing local regulation on non-smoking area (KTAR).

"We are very grateful and pleased for the government's appreciation. This award will be a boost to the government's spirit to work better," he said.

The non-smoking area regulation regulates all institutional leaders are obliged to provide special rooms for smokers, as the established standards.

Currently, the regulation has been realized in almost all districts and cities in South Kalimantan, especially in health facility locations, such as health centers, hospitals and others.
