Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - South Kalimantan Governor Sahbirin Noor is determined to develop forest areas for tourism as an effort to conserve forest areas while improving the economy of the community.


According to the Governor, creative and innovative efforts need to continue to preserve the forest area as the lungs of the world, as well as making the forest as a source of economic for surrounding communities.

One of them is by developing the forest area as a new tourist destination in South Kalimantan.

"Currently all countries in the world are campaigning for sustainability and developing forest areas, so we must be part of the circle of efforts," Sahbirin Noor said in Banjarmasin on Monday.

The Governor added that South Kalimantan has tremendous potential as a tourist destination of forest area as well as a natural tourism destination.

The South Kalimantan Forest is not only rich with a variety of forest plants and medicines. Most of the natural forest is still well preserved.

"As in the forest area around the Kahung Valley in Banjar District still found many large trees hundreds of years old. Some are 200 years old and even more," he said.

These potentials if kept and developed, added the Governor, will be the potential of nature tourism and outstanding education.

So, he added, a common commitment is needed from all parties concerned to move to realize the dream.
