Deputy Regent of Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, H Syairi Mukhlis, urged the government to pay attention to welfare of teachers who are till on honorary status.
“Prioritize the advancement of education in Kotabaru by looking after the welfare of teachers, especially those still on regional incentive (insenda),” said Deputy Regent at the commemoration of National Education Day (Hardiknas) 2026, as reported on Wednesday.
He also hopes that all students to always respect their teachers.
"I hope students will respect their teachers, because the output of education is knowledge, and the output of knowledge is manners. This means that manners are superior to knowledge," he said.

Education has a strategic role in producing generation not only intellectually intelligent, but also possesses strong character, integrated, and ready to face global dynamics.
On this occasion, the government of Kotabaru District presented 122 certificates of appreciation, including 16 for educators and 106 for students.
Achievement awards included, SMP Negeri 2 Sampanahan winning first place in 2025 Teacher and Education Personnel Appreciation, MTsN 1 Kotabaru was the second winner in the 36th National Qur'an Recitation Competion (MTQN).
SDN 1 Sungai Kupang won first place in Fully Funded Grant Certification Batch 2 by Hafecs, kindergarten TK Negeri Pembina Kelumpang Hulu won second place in song competition Mother's Day 2025 at IGTKI-PGRI South Kalimantan.
HIMPAUDI (Association of Indonesian Eraly Childhood Educators and Education Personnel) Kotabaru won third place in IV HIMPAUDI South Kalimantan Jamboree Carnival Competition.
