Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - A total of 27 prospective students from South Kalimantan passed the selection to continue their studies at Al Azhar University, Cairo, Egypt.


Head of the South Kalimantan Office of Religious Affair Ministry Noor Fahmi here on Thursday said Indonesia has cooperated with the Egyptian government to provide opportunities for young Indonesians to study at Al Azhar University in Cairo.

"The Egyptian government provides an opportunity for Indonesian young generation to continue their studies from bachelor's (S-1) to master's (S-2) degree," he said.

This year, 4,500 candidates from Indonesia took the test. Special from South Kalimantan as many as 27 are eligible to study in the country.

The prospective students each came from Tabalong, Balangan, North Hulu Sungai, South Hulu Sungai, Tanah Laut and Tanah Bumbu.

"The new students from South Kalimantan consists of 14 men and 13 women," he said.

Currently, there are 137 students from Kalimantan who study at Al Azhar University. and 15 of them from South Kalimantan.

South Kalimantan Governor Sahbirin Noor stated very proud of the success of 27 South Kalimantan youth who passed the selection to Cairo. They, he said, are the best generation who will continue the da'wah relay the province.

"We pray that they can take advantage of this momentum to the best that they pass, then return to South Kalimantan to apply their knowledge after they have educated. My message to them keeps the spirit in studying and maintain health, "he said.
