Sun bear, a new magnet to Sultan Adam Forest Park

Banjarbaru, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) has placed two sun bears or locally known as beruang madu (honey bear) to complement and become a new magnet for the Sultan Adam Public Forest Park.

South Kalimantan Regional Secretary Abdul Haris in Banjarbaru on Tuesday said the public forest park not only has breathtaking views of the mountain slopes but also beautiful waterfalls and green trees.

Now these attractions got a new charm that would be a magnet in place of family recreation with increasing diversity of animals.

"After having 23 Sambar deer, now the public forest park gets the arrival of new wildlife dweller two rare honey bears ready to interact with visitors," he said.

The secretary appreciated the steps undertaken by the South Kalimantan Forestry Agency in managing the work program between people and society and made other creative programs.

BKSDA Region V South Kalimantan not only entrusted two sun bears, but also one owa-owa and one binturung to the Forestry Agency for public forest park.

The Head of BKSDA Andi Lukito and the Head of River Basin Management Agency Zainal Ariffin also handed over operational vehicles as assistance and a form of synergy to support the conservation of animals and the environment.

Head of the Forestry Agency Hanif Faisol Nurofiq explained the forestry current focus is in environmental, forest, and protected animals conservation.
