Kotabaru is preparing itself for the assessment of 2025 Adipura, a program and award from the Ministry of Environment (KLH).

It is to encourage good environmental management in cities and districts. It assesses performance in waste management, green space development, and reforestation in sustainable manner. 

"Thus, the commitment to managing cleanliness and environment is not solely the responsibility of Environment Office, but a shared responsible of government, the public, business sector, and other stakeholders in Kotabaru," said Assistant for Government and Community Welfare H Minggu Basuki here as reported on Monday.

He re-iterated that the handling cannot be just by one government working unit (SKPD). All SKPDs must be included, including villages must participate in the process. 

"So I hope soon we can cooperate to make progress and improve our score,” he said at a coordination meeting in Kotabaru.

Assistant II Murdianto said that the coordination meeting, besides being an evaluation forum, it aimed to improve the quality of environmental management and winning the 2025 Adipura award with an optimal results. 

“This is a good opportunity for the local government to improve waste management in Kotabaru, not only improving the facilities, infrastructure and human resources. We are also striving to build and develop a culture of cleanliness in our community," he expounded.

According to Head of Kotabaru Environment Office Melinda, the assessment criteria of the 2025 Adipura differ from the previous years. The assessment includes the performance of local goverment, public participation and awareness of low-waste living, and waste managment system from upstream to downstream.

Adipura's success is not merely determined by the local government, the community play a crucial role to driving real change from sorting waste at home, supporting waste bank, and developing a circular economy.
