Mayor of Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan, Erna Lisa Halaby received an award from the Indonesian Madrasah Teachers Association (PGM) for her strong commitment to supporting madrasah (Islamic school) teachers.
She received the award at the 2025 PGM Awards and PGM Indonesia's 17th Anniversary celebration at HM Rasjidi Auditorium of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Jakarta, Wednesday (July 27, 2025).
"Alhamdulillah, the award we receive motivates us to support madrasah teachers," Lisa said in a written statement from Media Center of Banjarbaru Communication and Informatics Office, Wednesday.
The Mayor stated that the city government will remain committed to present and care for the needs and improving the quality of madrasah teachers across various areas.
The award is hoped to foster the spirit of collaboration between local government and madrasah educators to ensure the quality of education and a golden generation.
"Banjarbaru government supports madrasah teachers by providing incentive and various programs that support the welfare and capacity building of madrasah teachers," she said.
PGM Award is a yearly event given to figures and institutions deemed to have contributed in strengthening the existance and professionalism of madrasah teachers in Indonesia.
This year the award is held to coincide with the 17th anniversary of PGM Indonesia took place in Jakarta and attended by regional heads who received the awards.
