The City Government of Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, released 25,000 pangasius (patin) fish seeds in participation in Martapura River environment conservation.
Banjarmasin Mayor H Ibnu Sina here on Friday said this participation was in support of South Kalimantan Regional Police activities as well as providing assistance for stunted children.
"For this activity 25 thousand fish seeds are released," he said.
The release of thousand of fish seeds in expected to help maintain the sustainability of freshwater fish in Martapura River, especially since many residents' fish died.
"Thank you for the information from residents in Banua Anyar area that there was an incident of dead fish. Perhaps the cages should be arranged to share space with trash traps on the other side," he said.
For stunting children handling, Ibnu Sina emphasized multi-party collaboration, one of which is today's activity in collaboration with the police.
"Thank you very much Mr Kapolda (Regional Police Chief) and all staff who also care about handling stunting loci in Banjarmasin," he said.
He hopes that this activity will help reducing stunting rate in the city, and malnourished and underweight children can be treated immediately.
