Amuntai, South Kalimantan, 15/3 (Antaranewskalsel) - The agriculture counseling team or PPL in North Hulu Sungai (HSU), South Kalimantan, taught farmers how to get around the growing season to save them from flood.

They helped farmers around the season, not to plant during the rainy season. As a result, farmers avoid losses. At the time of the floods, farmers have finished harvesting and only a few seedbed were damaged by the flood.

"If there are farmers who are still planting it is on high land or swampy land located in the dike, so they are not affected by the floods," he said.

"There are some seedbed affected by floods, among others in the village of Panyiuran, South Amuntai, but not cause significant losses," he said.

Ilman said, farmers in HSU besides getting weather information periodically from PPL, also have their own experience in determining the future of rice planting in order not to be affected by the floods.

While the agency always doing counseling to farmers' groups related strategies and efforts to start the planting season, in order to minimize the impact of flooding, as is the case today.

According to him, agricultural land in the district is swampy wetlands, so if rainy season they are affected by the floods in quite a long time.
