Regent of Tanah Bumbu, South Kalimantan Province, H. Zairullah Azhar together with Regional Secretary H. Ambo Sakka, other officials, and farmers celebrated rice harvest in Manurung Village, Kusan Tengah Sub-district. 

"We should be grateful for this rice harvest. Hopefully it will be a blessing for us all," said the Regent on Wedneday.

He appreciated farmers in Tanah Bumbu, especially in Kusan Tengan, for their tremendous harvest results, and they even able to harvest twice a year.

The local government keeps on supporting agriculture in Tanah Bumbu with the hope it will be able to be a supplier for South Kalimantan, even IKN.

"I hope this harvest activity will encourage farmers. The rice produced (hopefully) will increase from 9.8 tons per hectare to 15-20 tons per hectare," said Zairullah.

Head of Tanah Bumbu Agriculture Office Hairuddin said that agriculture program is a priority that is continued to be developed.

"Farmers role is not only contribute to regional food security, they also contribute greatly to overall economic development, both for farmer income and regional income, as well employment," he described.

Farmers in Tanah Bumbu have been able to produce 39,000 tons of dry milled rice grain (GKG) per year from a land area of 9,236 hectares.

They plant superior rice seeds, such as mekongga, inpari, and inpari IR Nutri Zinc with a planting to harvest period of about 120 days.
