Tanah Bumbu Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) supports people's economic movement in Batulicin Sub-district to cultivate grass to meet the need of animal feed.

"We go down to the field to particate planting grass for cattle and goat feed," said Tanah Bumbu DPRD member H. Abdul Kadir in Batulicin, Monday.

There are two land or locations in Batulicin Sub-district, he said, to be planted with grass for animal feed. One of them is in Cappa Padang Batulicin.

The type of grass planted or cultivated is odot grass (pennisetum purpureum cv Mott) or mini elephant grass.

For the supply of seeds, DPRD plans to collaborate with local Agriculture Agency to distribute grass seeds free of charge to planters.

According to Abdul Kadir, planting grass for livestock is also aims to stimulate the economy of residents, so that they can utilize empty land and have an income.

"Even though they don't have livestock, they have empty land that can be used to plant elephant grass, and the grass can be sold to breeders," he explained.

He hopes by his presence in leading the planting of animal feed grass, farmers group are more enthusiastic and serious about trying to improve their economy.
