The Kalumpang Sub-district Police, rank of Hulu Sungai Selatan (HSS) District Police, South Kalimantan, launched Pertiwu superior corn seeds in their effort to support regional food security, especially in Kalumpang.
"I invite all parties to make food security and self-sufficiency program a success, especially in Kalumpang Sub-district," said Adj. Comr (AKP) Syamsi as quoted from Kalumpang Police's press release, Monday (Nov 11. 2024).
Samsi hopes that each village head and family head are motivated to use empty land and neglected yard land to be planted with plants that have economic value, such as corn, vegetables, tubers, chilies, and others.
"In this way, it will be possible to meet the nutritional needs for the family. And if the produce is large it can be sold to the market, family welfare can increase, nutritious food menu can be fulfilled," he pointed out.

Samsi said launching of planting superior corn seeds could be a motivation and example for other villages to do the same activities.
Kalumpang Police's launching of planting superior corn seeds was held in Muhyidin's garden in Sirih Hulu Village, Kalumpang.
On the occasion, symbolic giving of corn seeds to representatives of farmers group in Sirih Hulu Village and joint planting was also carried out.
This was followed by socialization of agriculture, fisheries, plantation and animal husbandry and ended with the handover of a water pump from HSS Agrilculture Office to Kayu Karas Farmers Group of Sirih Hulu Village.
The activities was also attended by Head of HSS Agrilculture Office M Noor, Kalumpang Sub-district Head M Wahyudi Noor, members of Simpur Kalumpang Sub-district Military, Head of BPP Kalumpang, Coordinator of Kalumpang field agricultural instructors (PPL), village heads, and local community leaders.
