Chairman of Commission II of Kotabaru District, South Kalimantan, Legislative Council (DPRD) Abu Suwandi urged Indonesia's state-owned energy firm Pertamina here to meet subsidized fuel need of local fishermen.
"Fishermen here complain a lot, because subsidized fuel is difficult to obtain," said Suwandi here as reported on Saturday.
According to him, the diesel fuel quota of 1,140 kiloliters (KL) per month for fishermen is far from the standard for meeting their needs.
As a result, fishermen often have difficulty obtaining disel fuel when they want to go to sea.

Based on data from the Kotabaru Fisheries Office, the number of registered fishermen or ID holders in Kotabaru District for vessel under 5 GT is 4,539, vessels over 5GT to 30 GT are 279.
Apart from the number of fishermen who receive quotas at the special gas station for fishermen (SPBN), there are many more who are not registered or do not have ID, according to the office record.
This condition triggered the commission to encourage addition fuel quotas to BPH Migas through Pertamina.
He requested more attention to be given to fishermen in providing fuel, so that there is no shortage of fuel when they go to sea.
"It also has a positive impact on improving the welfare of fishermen, so that it is more secure," he said.
Abu Suwandi also emphasized that the proposed additional quota in the future must be properly monitored, so that distribution can be even.
