The Tanah Bumbu National and Political Unity Agency (Kesbangpol) educated high school students about politics in Kusan Hilir Sub-district.

"A total of 500 students enthusiastically took part in the activity," said Head of Kesbangpol Agency Nahrul Fajeri in Batulicin, Thursday.

Nahrul said the students who took part in the activity were from SMA Negeri 1 Kusan Hilir, SMKN Kusan Hilir, MAN Kusan Hilir and SMK Muhammadiyah Kusan Hilir.

The activity has the theme "Smart Millennial Voters to Produce Quality Leaders".

According to him, political education is very important to know how to do politics well and wisely.

This is needed as a reference to choose leadership candidates in the 2024 simultaneous regional head election (Pilkada).

Kesbangpol also introduced basic concepts, such as government system, the political role of executive, legislative, judicial institutions, rights and obligations for citizens. It also held general election simulation of political debates.

"This activity helps students to understand political process and decision making," said Nahrul.

While discussion and debate  could encourage students to get involved in discussion and find out about the latest social political issues.

"This trains them to think critically and develop their public speaking skills," said Nahrul.
