The University of Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) has produced 576 dentists until the 35th batch to support health services in Kalimantan in general and in South Kalimantan in particular.
"ULM is the only campus in Kalimantan that has a Faculty of Dentistry (FKG), so its contribution is very large for dental and oral health services on this island," said ULM Chancellor Professor Ahmad Alim Bachri in Banjarmasin, Sunday.
ULM's FKG students not only came from South Kalimantan, but they also came from other provinces in Kalimantan. After graduating they then return to their respective regions to serve.

Alim said returning to their respective regions to serve is what his side expected, so that dental and oral health services could be evenly distributed not only in urban areas but also districts, rural areas and remote areas.
He emphasized that dentists who graduated from ULM's FKG should carry out their service professionally and proportioally by continuing to improve their knowledge as time goes by.
"Indonesia really needs the contribution of dentists in realizing national development towards a healthy society," he stressed.
Meanwhile, the Dean of ULM's FKG Professor drg. Maharani Laillyza Apriasari said that 47 new dentists were sworn in at the inauguration of the 35th batch of dentists.
She sugggested that FKG graduates could continue to master degree (S2) or specialist studies while being able to provide service in order to improve the level of public health.
